The last of the jukeboxes produced by AMI as an independent company and a design too radical to change their fortunes - next year they would merge with another coin op company Rowe, to become Rowe-AMI.
In retrospect this machine stands out as a design classic. Inspired by the space race, it’s set apart from it’s automobile inspired predecessors, which may have accelerated the Company's demise.
This was 1962 - the height of cold war hostilities. Having something Red and looking like a Soviet spaceship was never going to go down well with the American public...
This particular example has been re-chromed and polished on the outside - with a new paint job restoring it to it’s original colour scheme. Inside the mechanics have been fully serviced and any dodgy wiring changed.
The 16 Valve stereo amplifier has been rebuilt, and together with a modern lightweight cartridge the sound is totally out of this world!
